SUMMARY:NO KINGS DAY PROTEST March 28\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:NO KINGS DAY PROTEST March 28\, 2026\n\n\nAbout this event \nWe have the power and are claiming it together. No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings. \nWhat began in 2025 as a single day of defiance has become a sustained national resistance to tyranny\, spreading from small towns to city centers and across every community determined to defend democracy. Our peaceful movement is bigger than ever. \nWhen our families are under attack and costs are pushing people to the brink\, silence is not an option. We will defend ourselves and our communities against this administration’s unjust and cruel acts of violence. \nOn March 28th\, rise up\, take to the streets\, and say it loud: no thrones\, no crowns\, no kings. We’re not watching history happen—we’re making it. Join us. \nA core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind\, including those legally permitted\, should not be brought to events.\n Veterans for Peace Chapter 112 will be tabling at this event. Please stop by and share some time with our members and our information table.\n          Date: March 28\, 2026; Time 10am to 12pm\n          Location: Ventura County Government Center; intersection of Victoria Ave and Telephone Rd. Look for the VFP flag. We are expecting to be on the east side of Victoria Ave near the bus stop.\n          Sponsors: Justice for All\, Indivisible Ventura and 50501\n

SUMMARY:CSUCI SOLIDARITY RALLY: MARCH 12\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:During the July 2025 raid on Glass House Farms in Camarillo\, Ventura County professor and labor organizer John Caravello was taken by ICE. He is now facing federal felony charges for assault of a federal officer because he threw an activated tear gas canister out of harm’s way. Trial begins March 24th in downtown Los Angeles. Leading up to and during John’s trial\, we want to make it clear that the community stands with John\, who answered the call to protect vulnerable fellow workers.   \nOn March 12th\, from 12:00-1:00\, California Faculty Association and Students for Quality Education are co-hosting a rally on the CSUCI campus. Our goal is to pack the space in front of Broome library with folks who oppose both ICE and the government’s attempts to silence ICE resistance.\n      Veterans for Peace will attend the rally with signage and VFP flags. Members please come by wearing VFP clothing in support of a fellow citizen who involved himself as VFP is asked to.  Two of VFP’s bullet points are to oppose the militarization of law enforcement and to resist racism and repression in our home communities. Please come\, and\, look for our flags. The public is invited to attend this event.

SUMMARY:Juneteenth Celebration 2025
DESCRIPTION:Juneteenth\, a national holiday celebrated on June 19\, is the name given to Emancipation Day by African-Americans in Texas. This year Juneteenth is celebrated on Saturday\, June 21\, 2025.\nThe history of this celebration begins on January 1st 1863\, when President Lincoln passed the Emancipation Proclamation\, outlawing slavery in the United States and freeing over 500\,000 enslaved African Americans. Sadly\, the news of this monumental decision spread slowly and many people remained enslaved until the news reached them two and a half years later. Galveston\, Texas was the first community to celebrate the holiday now known as “Juneteenth.”\nGiven the need for compassion and understanding in our communities\, the importance of celebrating Juneteenth in Ventura County has never been more crucial. The timing has never been more urgent. We hope that celebrating Juneteenth will inspire community dialogue on unity and empathy\, leading to increased compassion\, understanding\, and social justice for all.\nVeterans for Peace will set up a booth for the Juneteenth Festival\, Oxnard Plaza Park. Please come by and join in on the fun!

SUMMARY:Redbird's 2024 Children of Many Colors Native American Powwow
DESCRIPTION:A powwow is a Native American cultural celebration. Community powwows are important social and cultural events\, weaving together the lives of native people across an urban fabric.  Redbird’s powwow is an intertribal gathering which prides itself in creating a friendly and supportive atmosphere for both participants and visitors.\n \nA powwow includes singing\, dancing\, drumming\, traditional music\, arts\, crafts and food.   Throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday there will be intertribal dances.  During these sets of songs\, guests are welcome in the dance arena.  There are some dress and conduct guidelines and you probably are familiar with them – revealing clothing is not appropriate for men or women\, touching dancers’ hair\, feathers or regalia is not okay\, and children should not be allowed to run through the arena. \nOn Sunday morning around 11:30 AM there will be a Veterans’ honoring.  All Veterans regardless of ethnicity or branch of service are welcome and encouraged to participate.   \nRedbird offers the powwow as an event that we hope bridges ethnic and socio-economic boundaries in a healthy way\, without compromising its integrity as an indigenous cultural gathering. \nThere is no charge for admission\, and everyone is welcome. \nVETERANS FOR PEACE WILL SET UP A BOOTH FOR THIS WEEKEND. PLEASE COME OUT AND JOIN US IN THE FUN! \n
